| London fire stations lower carbon emissions and save money

Figures released today show that carbon emissions have plummeted by as much as 44 per cent and energy bills will be cut by around £50,000 a year at ten fire stations involved in the Mayor of London’s RE:FIT programme. The completed stations are now saving 242 tonnes of CO2 per year - enough to fill the Sydney Opera House five times over.

A FAKE Nazi chemical bomb complete with swastika insignia sparked a bomb scare in Naval Base on Monday morning.
Police and military bomb technicians were called to a logistic company’s yard in Beard Street after an orange and metal canister filled with a liquid and with a Nazi swastika label on the side (pictured) was found on a table.
Police believe the fake bomb was a film prop.

A 100 tonne iron ore truck powered by liquid natural gas (LNG) and diesel fuel - consisting of a prime mover and three semi trailers - has caught fire on the Geraldton Mt Magnet Road, approximately 50 kilometres south of Yalgoo.
Twenty firefighters from the career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Bush Fire Service are at the scene preparing to extinguish the fire and make the area safe.

WA fire chiefs will consider more than 60 recommendations from a report into Victoria's Black Saturday bushfires.
Fire and Emergency Services Authority chief executive Jo Harrison-Ward said that while some of the recommendations from the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission were specific to Victoria, FESA would see what could be learned for handling fire management and response locally.
